AMS x LL Saint Basil Pendant
Named for the auspicious coin baked into the lucky slice of Vasilopita—or St. Basil’s cake—enjoyed by the Greeks on New Year’s Day. Those fortunate to receive the coin are promised good luck for the year ahead.
This coin is drawn from the equal-measured Byzantine cross of the early Orthodox Church, as well as pagan imagery of ancient pirate coins found in buried treasure.
Painted by Andrea Smith, 2021-23. Pendant hand carved, created, and cast in New York City.
